Slipping on the headlamp as darkness descends not only allows you to venture out on your favorite trail at any time of day. The lamp's concentrated light can also add an additional dimension to your workout. Moreover, the headlamp has a definite place in your camping gear, on hikes, and also at home during the darkest months of winter when you're going out to fetch the newspaper. At Outnorth, you'll find headlamps from quality manufacturers like Silva, Black Diamond, and Petzl.

Get rid of restrictions and use a headlamp

Whether you're going hiking, running, biking or horseback riding, you don't have to be limited to daylight if you choose to use a headlamp that suits your purpose. If you have tasks where you work with both hands and are at the same time in the dark, it can be a clear advantage to use a headlamp. Instead of holding a flashlight in one hand, you can work freely with both of your hands.

What is the difference between headlamps?

Headlamps are available in lots of varieties. The main difference between the headlamps is that they have different brightnesses. But there are also some differences in the technology, some lamps are able to adjust the brightness according to how dark it is. The light beam is also something that distinguishes the headlamps, some have a wide light beam and others have a narrow one. In many cases, you can set the light beam either via a focusing ring or via a button function available on the headlamp. Larger and more powerful headlamps often have a larger battery pack that you need to store elsewhere such as in your backpack or in a holster. It also differs on the headbands that the lamp is attached to and it is a matter of taste what you like. Sometimes it can feel good to have an extra band over your head so that it feels like it stays more in place when running. Some headlamps have quick-release fasteners that allow you to easily move the lamp from the headband to the bike helmet or to the handlebars, to draw two examples.

Which headlamp should I choose?

It depends a bit on the purpose and the wallet. If you're just going out for a walk with the dog, you really don't need to turn on a headlamp with extremely good brightness if you don't want to, of course. If, on the other hand, you are going to do some more fast-paced activity in the forest, it may be good to have a strong light so that you get a longer and/or wider view. What you should also consider is the battery's capacity, if you are going to perform a longer activity, you need to choose a headlamp that has a good battery capacity. If you are going to wear your headlamp when cycling, it can be an advantage if it is possible to attach it to your helmet or handlebars. There are simply a few questions to consider when choosing your headlamp. Outnorth's range includes headlamps in all price ranges with different brightness levels and battery life. You will find headlamps from several well-known brands such as Petzl, Silva, Black Diamond and Urberg.
