Compeed is a brand that sells gel plasters for the treatment of blisters, corns, cracked heels and mouth ulcers. In 1984, Lars Backsell worked as general manager at Coloplast and identified an untapped niche in the plaster market. Lars developed a prototype that would develop a skin barrier based on hydrocolloid technology and had the Swedish army test the product. The chafing plaster was a success and in 2017 HRA Pharma bought Compeed, but the manufacturing is still carried out by Coloplast in Denmark.
