When choosing the length of your touring poles, a rule of thumb is that the pole should be 5 cm shorter than reaching your armpit when standing on the ground. Another rule of thumb is that touring poles should be 30-40 cm shorter than your height. Touring ski poles are usually shorter than regular ski poles because you want optimal blood circulation to your hands and arms in cold conditions, and to avoid putting too much strain on your shoulders.
