A balanced outdoor lifestyle

Working for a better world should always start with working on yourself. We at Outnorth do not own any factories and the majority of products we sell are from external brands. However, it’s very important to us that products are manufactured in line with our values - regardless of who manufactured them. No one should be harmed, and this applies to both animals, nature and people. We work actively to ensure that this is achieved, both when we manufacture ourselves or buy from external suppliers.

Our goal is for all our suppliers to sign an agreement with our expectations and requirements (Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Requirements) regarding human rights, the environment, and animal welfare. It contains, among other things, a list of banned materials and products we no longer purchase.

Banned materials and products

The following materials are no longer allowed in any products purchased by Outnorth from our vendors.

  • Animal fur (only fake fur may be used).
  • Wool from sheep subjected to mulesing.
  • Material containing anything from endangered animals.
  • Products of tropical species of trees.
  • Down and feathers that are not sourced from the food industry.
  • Down and feathers plucked from living birds.
  • Angora wool or wool in angora mix.
  • Hides or leather from exotic animals. For example, crocodile, snake and shark.
  • Hides or leather from domestic animals such as cats or dogs.
  • Leather from animals that has been killed only for the use of their hides

The following products are no longer allowed to be purchased by Outnorth from our vendors.

  • Electric dog collars.
  • Fishing weights containing lead.
  • Ski wax that contains PFAS.

Fair wages

All wages are required to comply with minimum wage laws or industry standards approved based on collective bargaining, whichever is higher.

Least possible environmental impact

We want to have the least possible environmental impact, in relation to our revenue. Therefore, we work with our suppliers and partners to lower their emissions and to strive towards having the least possible environmental impact. We require compliance with national environmental legislation or international standards where national legislation is weak or poorly enforced. We want our suppliers to work to identify the environmental impact of the business and implement appropriate measures to prevent, mitigate and remedy negative effects on the surrounding communities, natural resources and the climate.

Ban on forced labor and child labor

Outnorth does not accept forced labor or child labor. In practice, this means we set demands for our suppliers in line with ILO guidelines. This means, among other things, not employing, directly or indirectly, children below the minimum age to complete compulsory schooling according to law, which shall not be less than 15 years, unless the exceptions recognized by the ILO apply. To protect children from all forms of exploitation and not to engage in, or be complicit in, any form of slavery, forced labor, indentured labor, human trafficking or involuntary labor, which includes state-imposed forced labor.
