The first Primus stove was manufactured in 1892 by JV Svenson's Fotogenköksfabrik. The word Primus was for a long time a concept for all kerosene stoves produced, regardless of manufacturer. Today, more than a hundred years later, the brand Primus still stands for innovation and high quality.
Primus was started way back in 1892 and is now a very well established brand name. Primus is Latin and means ‘the best’ and proof of the brand awareness is that Primus in Russia is now synonymous to, or carries the meaning of, ‘portable kitchen’. Throughout the years Primus has become well known for its outdoor products used for cooking, heating and giving light. Initially Primus worked primarily with bottled gas products, but today they have widened their collection to include products using petrol and paraffin oil.
