Description
Daiwa Caldia has been given a Monocoque (MQ) design, without doubt one of Daiwa's flagship technologies. The MQ design makes it possible to create reels that are more compact and lighter, while also having larger gears and greater strength. By equipping the Caldia with MQ technology, a significant increase in gear size has been achieved while the reel itself is even lighter than previous generations.
- LT (Light & Tough)
- Monocoque® Zaion V body
- MAGSEALED® body construction
- 6 ball bearings (1CRBB)
- Zaion V Air Rotor
- CNC-cut Tough Digigear®
- ATD™ drag system
- Infinite Anti-Reverse®
- CNC-cut aluminum handle
- Hi-Grip handle knob
- Air Bail®
- Long Cast ABS spool
The core of the new MQ body is a tough Digigear design that provides smooth and powerful performance. The new ZAION V rotor construction achieves minimal start-up inertia, giving the angler the feeling of almost weightless rotation.
A Magseal spool housing works together with the MQ design to further prevent contaminants from entering the spool body, significantly extending the spool's service life. Daiwa's ATD Drag system, Airbail and Long Cast ABS II spool design are all present in this reel, making the Daiwa Caldia LT the most capable Caldia reel so far.
Technologies
Light & Tough
Daiwa introduces "minimalist technology" to its reels. LT Technology introduces new, reduced reel dimensions while making them stronger than before. Compact body design with Digigear drive for the ideal combination of lightness and strength.
Monocoque®
This design has a one-piece frame and a one-piece threaded side plate. Since no screws are required to attach the side plate and hold the main gear, the core of the body is larger, allowing for a larger, stronger gear that is held in place by the lighter, stronger body instead of the traditional side plate.
Magsealed®
The Mag Sealed principle is based on a special magnetic oil, developed by NASA to transport fuel to spacecraft based on the magnetic principle. It must be produced under very demanding conditions. The embedded iron oxide, which is necessary for the magnetic field, has a diameter of 1/100,000 mm.
CRBB
CRBB ball bearings are shielded for extra protection. Unlike standard "corrosion-resistant" ball bearings, DAIWA's CRBB ball bearings are sealed to protect against sand, fine dust, salt crystals and other abrasives for even longer service life.
CRBB ball bearings have 12 times higher corrosion resistance than standard ball bearings.
Tough Digigear
Machined, digitally developed gearing for maximum performance and durability. Built into Daiwa's light spinning reel body, it transfers power smoothly and efficiently from the handle directly to the rotor. This allows you to focus on fishing.
Daiwa's engineers fully refined Digigear technology with Digigear II and further with Tough Digigear (TDG). The shape and surface of the gears make it possible to construct gears with outstanding smoothness, minimal resistance and very long service life.
The result is a revolutionary development in strong reels.
ATD™
The biggest issue with many drag systems is that they are not smooth at the start of the drag. ATD is finely tuned to respond faster, with immediate line release when needed. With ATD, this issue is eliminated.
ATD also implements structural changes to the spool metal that provide better support for the spool along the full length of the main shaft. This additional support reduces spool twisting under load, promotes more even pressure on the drag washers, and ultimately reduces drag "pulsing" when fighting fish.
Infinite Anti-Reverse®
The new Infinite Anti Reverse system activates with 4 times less force than a classic system. Less than 2 g is required to activate the system, which makes the reel stop instantly and takes sensitivity to the next level.
Air Bail®
Daiwa's innovative bail design features a hollow, tubular stainless steel bail for maximum rigidity and strength with minimal weight. Due to the smooth design of the Air Bail, even loose line will easily slide down into the bail arm on the reel after a cast, when the reel is rotated. Without laying the bail over by hand.
Air Rotor
Air Rotor is a design triumph, where weight is reduced, rotational balance is smooth and stress distribution is even.
The enormous stresses affecting the rotor through the line and line roller are distributed more effectively. This causes less pressure on the individual parts of the rotor.
Air Rotor is 15% lighter than conventional rotors made from the same material - this reduces vibration and improves rotational balance thanks to its almost symmetrical shape and very low center of gravity. Under the same load, a conventional rotor can become much more distorted due to concentrated pressure points. Air Rotor distributes the load.
Long Cast ABS
Unlike classic cylindrical spools, ABS spools are tapered to reduce the risk of tangling during casting. The spool lip reduces line friction to increase casting distance.
Zaion V
The new super composite material developed by Daiwa to further improve the performance of Light & Tough reels: it is as light as its "big brother" Zaion, but much stiffer and more resistant to load than DS5 and DS4 materials.
The mechanical properties of Zaion V make it possible to create reel bodies and rotors with lower weight than DS5 and DS4 materials, which means the internal mechanism can operate more effectively, ensuring smoother operation and greater wear resistance, resulting in lighter reels with higher performance.
But that is not all. Zaion V is a carbon-fiber-based composite and is therefore completely corrosion-free, even when used in saltwater.
