How to Dress Your Child During The Winter
As the temperature drops, clothing becomes crucial to how much fun outdoor play will be. By thinking in layers, choosing moisture-wicking materials, and adapting clothing to the weather, you help your child stay warm so they can play longer.
Layer 1
The base layer sits next to the skin and should wick moisture away. Choose underwear made of wool or synthetic fabrics to keep your child dry and warm, even when they sweat during play. Avoid cotton as it absorbs moisture, which can make your child cold.
Layer 2
This layer provides insulation and retains warmth. Fleece, wool, or lightly padded garments are good options. Adjust the thickness depending on how cold it is – sometimes two mid-layers are needed when the temperature really drops.
Layer 3
The outer layer protects against wind and weather. Choose a shell jacket and shell pants, or an overall, that are both windproof and waterproof but still breathable. This way, your child can play freely in snow, rain, or wind without getting wet or cold.
