Women's Mafate X from Hoka is a trail running shoe for women that offers maximum comfort and cushioning whether you are running a longer distance or a shorter one. Mafate X has a woven upper that provides a perfect fit around the foot, and it also has soft padding around the ankle and tongue. Around the heel, there is a stabilizing reinforcement that stabilizes the heel and ankle, and at the front of the shoe, there is a reinforcing layer that provides extra protection for the toes and forefoot.
With a sole thickness of 49 mm at the heel, Mafate X offers a gentle and energetic run. The sole base is wide and stable, creating a steady landing surface for each step, even in difficult terrain. The midsole is composed of two different foam types with two different densities, providing both stability and comfort with each step. The core of the midsole consists of PEBA foam, which is very light and energetic. Active Foot Frame contributes to extra stability in the ankle. Mafate X has a slightly higher drop than many of HOKA's models: 8 mm.
Between the foam layers in the sole, there is a fork-shaped carbon fiber plate designed to match the shoe's geometry. This plate creates extra response while helping the foam to stiffen.
The outsole consists of grippy and durable rubber from Vibram Megagrip, with strategically placed lugs for a safe and stable grip.
