With the motto “Always make sure you’re one step ahead” Odlo was founded in 1946. Odd Roar Lofterød an enthusiastic Norwegian athlete, started the company with a great deal of creativity and courage. The company began by making underwear for speed skaters to protect them from the cold and from there that the concept took off.
In 1963 Odlo launched its first stretchy high- performance suit for cross-country skiers and speed skaters made of Helanca, a synthetic fibre. The entire Norwegian ski team used this revolutionary suit at the 1964 Winter Olympics, and at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo 22 national teams used Odlo sportswear. In 1986 Odd Roar Lofterød Junior moved the company to Switzerland and at the same time launched Odlo’s groundbreaking 3-layer principle where the first layer ensures moisture transport, the second layer regulates temperature, and the third protects against wind and weather. Odlo is proud to be a pioneer in functional sportswear, and with more than 70 years of experience they continue to drive development forward.
Odlo is the market leader in Europe in functional sports underwear. Furthermore, Odlo is strong in the categories of cross-country skiing, cycling, running, training studio and outdoors. The Swiss cross-country ski team with Dario Cologna as its lead uses Odlo’s products as does Martin Fourcade the star of the French cross-country and biathlon team. Odlo also sponsors the world's best mountain bike team, the Scott-SRAM MTB Racing Team, with which our Swedish star and Olympic gold medallist Jenny Rissveds competes for.
