Roland Tyson began making outdoor gear at the age of 17, and by 1991 Sea to Summit was founded after outfitting an unusual first ascent of Mt. Everest, a trek from sea level to a solo summit. Roland's passion for designing the best, lightest and most durable equipment led him to travel to remote Australian outback and the Himalayas, putting his inventions to the ultimate test. In 1993, Penny Sanderson joined the company, and together they have grown Sea to Summit into a successful global brand, testing products everywhere they went and owning every step of the journey from developing raw materials to delivering the perfected gear to customers worldwide.
